"Lauren,
WHY?
Your room's about the same as you left it. I've made a few changes -- I've added pictures of you on the walls and doors. Soon there won't be much left uncovered.
I miss you when I hear a song on the radio, when I close my eyes to sleep, when I open them to wake. I miss you the way I would miss my best friend.
I miss you so, but not like your sisters and brothers do. You were Patty, Leslie, and Allan's first baby. They oohed and ahhed over every word. The miracle of your first step -- they acted like it was new at every footfall. The girls picked out your dress for your first day of preschool and fussed over your face and hair while I worked on the breakfast dishes. You mean so much to them.
The youngest is really an important child in the family. They see more changes with more independence than any other child. I was the youngest, and know this.
I hope your being gone is only part of your independence.
Prayer is my only recourse now that we've explored every other possiblity and have come up empty-handed.
Lauren, you are so important to this family. We love you and miss you.
Your momma,
Emily Carver
Psalms 91:1-4
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings."
